ハロウィーンの準備

やっとハロウィーンのために家を飾っています。飾りを出しまして、今、どこに飾ったらいいか決めているところです。お天気はまだ暖かいですけどこれ以上待ちたくなかったです。そして明日pumpkinのパンを作ろうと思います。彫るかぼちゃを買わなければいけません。まずどんな模様にするか決めなければいけません。
カボチャを彫る事についてはきらいな事が一つあります。カボチャの中身を取り出す事です。中身は冷たくてグチャグチャをしています。気持ち悪い感じですよ。=)　でも新鮮なカボチャの匂いは秋を思い出させます。カボチャを彫る事の他に十二月にはホーラーの映画を見ます。特に”Dracula”とか “Frankenstein”という古い”白黒”映画が大好きですよ。とても魅力的で怖い雰囲気があると思います。

I’m finally decorating the house for Halloween today. The weather is still warm but I didn’t want to wait anymore. I got the decorations out and am deciding where to put everything. I’m also thinking of baking some pumpkin bread tonight. Tomorrow I will buy some pumpkins to carve. The first thing I need to do is decide how I want them to look. The only thing I don’t like about carving pumpkins is cleaning out the inside of the pumpkin. It’s because it feels all cold, squishy and gross. But I love the smell of fresh pumpkin. It reminds me of fall! Besides pumpkin carving, every night in October, I watch horror movies. I particularly like the old “black and white” horror movies, like Dracula, Frankenstein, etc. I think they have a charming, scary atmosphere to them.

Jack O' Lanternの歴史

かぼちゃを彫る習慣は昔のアイルランドに由来しました。日本語で説明するには複雑過ぎるので要約します。伝説によると、 何度も悪魔に悪ふざけをした”けちんぼうJack”という男がいました。Jackは亡くなった時天国にも地獄にも行けませんでした。だから、亡霊になってしまいました。彼は掘ったひょうたんの中にあるキャンドルで道を照らしました。それから(まもなく)”Jack of the Lantern”と呼ぶようになりました。それが、ダンダン “Jack O’ Lantern”というようになってきました。そしてアイルランド人が化け物を脅かすために”Jack O’ Lanterns”を使い始めました。
皆さん今年はかぼちゃを掘ってみるといいかもしれません。ではまたね！

The custom of pumpkin carving originates in Ireland, long ago. It is too difficult for me to explain in Japanese, but I’ll summarize. According to Irish legend, there was a man named “Stingy Jack,” who tricked the Devil many times. When Jack died, he was not allowed into Heaven or Hell, and became a wandering spirit. He used a candle--in a hollowed out gourd-- to light his way. He became known as “Jack Of the Lantern” and eventually, “Jack-O’ Lantern.” In time, Irish people began using carved pumpkins to scare away evil spirits.

秋はどこですか？

こんにちは！お元気ですか？厳密にいうと秋が来ましたね。でも今日天気予報を見てびっくりしました。明日は八十四度になるはずです。冗談じゃないよと思いました。秋はどこですか？何かを焼いたり家を飾ったりしたいですが、お天気が涼しくなるまで出来ません。焼く事には暑過ぎる訳じゃないけどそんなに暖かったら変だと感じる訳です。多くの人々が夏らしいお天気の方が好きですが、私は涼しいお天気を好みます。じゃ、とりあえず秋らしいお天気が来る事を願いますね。またね！

Hello! How are you? Technically, spring is here right? But today, when I saw the weather report, I was surprised. Tomorrow is supposed to get to 84 degrees. “Are you kidding me?!” I thought. Where’s fall? I want to do things like bake something and decorate the house, but until the weather gets cool, I can’t. It’s not that it’s too hot to bake, but it feels strange to bake when/if it’s so warm. Most people like summer-like weather, but I prefer cool weather. Well, for now I’ll just keep hoping for fall-like weather. Bye bye!

Random day

最近秋が近づいているので嬉しいよ。秋は一番大好きな季節です。でもまだ天気が暖かいので今日は車を洗いました。天気が涼しくなると直ぐハロウィーンの準備をするつもりですよ。お母さんが亡くなった時から良くgraphics tabletで絵を描いてます。絵を描くことは集中し、気分を良くすることを手伝ってくれます.最近自分の漫画を作りたいと思ってます。楽しいけどちょっと難しいです。この間Yul Brynnerという俳優の絵を書いてしまいました。もちろん完璧じゃないけどそれはとても上手に出来ました. もっとも難しい所はしわを書くことでした。何度も書いてみてついにそれがわかりました。しかし、しわを書くことをもっと練習しなくちゃいけない。
これから部屋に掃除機をかけたり昼ご飯を食べたりします。またね！


Recently, I've been happy since fall is approaching. Fall is my favorite season. But, the weather is still warm, so today I washed my car. As soon as the weather cools off a little, I intend to start preparing for Halloween. Since my mom passed away, I've been drawing pictures with my graphics tablet. Drawing helps keep me focused and feeling better. Lately, I've been thinking I want to create my own comic book. It's fun but a little difficult. The other day I finished drawing a picture of the actor Yul Brynner. It's not perfect, of course, but it turned out pretty well. The most difficult part was drawing the (skin) wrinkles. I tried it many times and finally figured it out. However, I need to practice drawing skin wrinkles, more.
After this I'll do such things as vacuum my room and eat lunch. See you again!
